Half caste, mixed race, dual heritage.
Light skin, pale skinned, privileged.
Judged by the colour of my skin from both sides.
Half black, blackie and nigga.
What are you? You’re not white, your not black.
Judged by the colour of my skin from both sides.
No one understands my battles.
Ancestors enslaved by slave masters.
Ansectors enslaving my ancestors.
No one even considers my battles.
Two sides battling each other.
Both sides hating each other.
No one understands my battles.
How do I heal from this torture?
How do I make peace with my anceators?
Hatred running through my blood from my white side to my blackside.
Hatred running through my blood from my black side to my white.
No one understands my internal battles.
Black sheep.
White sheep.
No one understands my battles.

Some one ask me the other day what color did I think Jesus skin was. My reply was, I don’t even think on the color of His skin only that His blood shed for the sins of the world was red, just like mine and yours. I work on not judging by color of skin. I am white with freckles all over me and when we lived in Papua New Guinea where people from there are brown skin, the kids would rub up against me to see if my freckles would rub off. My first thought when I saw your picture was that you might be mixed but my first thought is you are beautiful. Your poem ask, how do you make peace with all the mixture…Jesus can help you with that. He was killed by His own, not for the color of His skin but for the words He spoke. You certainly have poet talent. Good one.
